Russell T Davies

Russell T Davies, the television scriptwriter, was born in Swansea (1963). He successfully made the transition from producing for the BBC to scriptwriting with a highly-regarded six-part drama serial for children, Dark Season, starring the young Kate Winslet.

Russell T Davies’s subsequent work included a BAFTA Children’s Award-winning episode for Granada’s Children’s Hospital and the groundbreaking Queer as Folk, which attracted controversy and praise in equal measure when it was screened on Channel 4 in early 1999 - followed by a sequel in 2000 and a highly successful version for the US.

Further television work included the mini-series, Bob and Rose, the religious tele-fantasy drama, The Second Coming and Mine All Mine, set in Mumbles.

Russell T Davies is chief writer and executive producer of the much-heralded BBC Wales’ revival of Doctor Who.
