Updated 11th July 08. One week in sunny August still available from 23rd to 30th.
Please visit our website - www.visitpembs.com for availability. We have had very good water this summer and the salmon and sewin are running well!
Alma House is a pretty traditional Welsh cottage which sleeps between four and six people. The cottage is one field away from the River Teifi and we offer salmon and sea trout fishing free of charge to our visitors. The accommodation is spacious and we have large gardens to the rear of the property, all safely fenced for children. We have five acres of gently sloping meadows that are bordered by the River Cych and the River Teifi and have the fishing rights to two extremely productive pools that can yield over a hundred sea trout and several salmon in a good season.
The whole of the interior to the cottage has recently been refurbished and redecorated, there's a new fitted kitchen, central heating, easy to clean tiled and laminated floors and a modern bathroom. The sunny gardens adjoin a large meadow of ours and are surrounded by the fields of an organic farm
Wildlife abounds in the area which has an SAC designation, that is a Special Area of Conservation, one up from an S.S.S.I. designation.! There are otters on the river, red kites are frequently seen and the owls and foxes can all be heard as the night settles. Badgers are commonplace as are the sea trout and salmon which can be seen in the river as they leap upstream. Our fields are ideal for nature lovers and picnicers.
The village of Abercych has two very good pubs, one a typical village local and the other quite a special riverside pub with its own microbrewery, guest ales and a renowned reputation for its delicious large meals. The village of Abercych is set in beautiful countryside and benefits from being close – about seven miles - to the sandy beaches of West Wales and the market towns of Cardigan and Newcastle Emlyn. Cardigan has an extremely good art centre, Theatre Mwldan, which has a newly completed cinema and theatre complex and offers a full programme of films and shows throughout the year. Both towns are picturesque, historic and full of interesting shops and pubs. Cardigan has large Tesco and Somerfield supermarkets.
Footpaths and a bridle path begin within a hundred yards of our front door its an ideal area for walkers and riders. We can even stable your horse if required!
All in all Alma House offers a marvellous opportunity to experience the very best of North Pembrokeshire and wild West Wales.
