Mission Gallery was formally St Nicholas Church, designed by Benjamin Bucknall and built in 1886, a non-denominational place of worship for seamen visiting the port of Swansea.

In 1977 the building became Swansea Arts Workshop, an artist’s initiative took over the lease and refurbished the interior in to an exhibition and workshop space, managed and run by artists and volunteers with the gallery becoming known as Mission Gallery in 1998.

The Gallery hosts a challenging programme of contemporary visual art, painting, craft, film installation and photography. Also, a changing display of contemporary glass, ceramics, jewellery and textile.
