The Gower Peninsula, west of Swansea, was designated the UK’s first 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' in 1956.
The 19 mile long Peninsula has 34 miles of coastline, still unspoilt and truly spectacular. An abundance of flora and fauna make Gower a very special place with common land, moor, marsh and renowned beaches and bays.
Many of the areas are protected as Nature Reserves and SSSI’s with the National Trust having responsibility for the conservation of many of the dramatic landscapes including Rhossili’s extraordinary Downs and magnificent sweep of beach. http://www.visitswanseabay.com
